The INTERNATIONAL MARINE CERTIFICATION INSTITUTE (IMCI) is your notified body in Europe for CE certification of boats, engines and components according to the Recreational Craft Directive of the EU.

IMCI is also running the IMCI BLUE STAR MARINA certification program. This program presents a transparent system to indicate the quality level of marinas through 3rd party assessment. Our Marina Certification program uses a number range between 1 and 5 stars to indicate the quality of certified marinas. The program is designed for all marinas regardless of size and or location.

  • Certification of Marinas
    IMCI BLUE STAR Marina Certification presents a transparent system to indicate the quality level of marinas
    through 3rd party assessment.
    Our Marina Certification program uses a number range between 1 and 5 stars to indicate the quality of
    certified marinas.

    • sanitary installation and hygiene

    • environment protection and disposal
    • winterstorage if applicable

    Technical security is already guaranteed by fundamental overarching national legislation.
    The award of a marina with up to 5 stars of the Blue Star Marina Certification is the highest quality award for excellent service and quality of service.
    This system is offering water sports tourists a transparent assessment for marinas of all sizes, both in coastal and inland areas.
    The marina operators can present the successful certification of its Marina by advertising an exquisite plate in the port.
    In addition, he is entitled to use the Blue Star Marina logo and can display it on other promotional materials. Furthermore, the certification will be shown on IMCI marketing platforms like internet and other media. 
    The validity of the classification is limited to three years. After this period the marina is audited by t by an independent inspector to obtain the Blue Star Marina Certification for another three years. 
    The program was established through IMCI in 2010 and is designed for all marinas regardless of size and or location -coastal and inland.

  • World Sailing certification
    World Sailing together with IMCI to provide certification to designers, builders and/or owners...

  • Since 2009 IMCI is recognised by World Sailing (ex ISAF) to provide plan review according to their Offshore Sailing Regulations setting requirements for offshore sailing racing yachts.

    The aim of the World Sailing Offshore Special Regulations Structural Plan Review Scheme is to implement compliance with the requirements of World Sailing Offshore Special Regulations 3.03 - Hull Construction Standards (Scantlings).

    The objective of the scheme is for World Sailing together with IMCI to provide certification to designers, builders and/or owners to show compliance with specific parts of the International Standard ISO 12215: Hull Construction –Scantlings.

    World Sailing recognition is given to IMCI, because we could demonstrate experience with ballasted sailing yachts, operate an ISO recognized quality management system and undergo regular auditing by BELAC.
