  • SAERTEX delivers non-crimp fabrics in more than 3,000 article designs. Depending on the fiber type, surface weight and angle combination, various mechanical characteristics can be achieved. SAERTEX multiaxials are individually configured for our customers and optimally adapted to a range of processes. Suitable methods are vacuum infusion, RTM, pultrusion, prepreg, compression, etc.

  • SAERTEX LEO is a composite system that fulfills the high fire protection requirements in the marine industry. In contrast with conventional fire protection systems, LEO does not have a negative influence on mechanical properties. Depending upon customer-specific requirements and intended application of the components, the LEO system uses different core materials, an optimized NCF layer (glass, carbon, aramid or hybrid) and special LEO infusion resins. A LEO protection layer is always the final component. The individual components are matched depending upon the intended application and client-specific requirements. They have no influence on the mechanical characteristics and the drapability of the textile is not limited. LEO meets international fire protection standards, is IMO FTP and EN 45545-2 tested and conforms to DIN SPEC 91326. The composite system provides reproducible fire retardancy that is uniform across the entire component thanks to a low-viscosity, unfilled matrix, an intumescent protection layer and fire-retardant multiaxial non-crimp fabrics. This provides a uniform degree of fire protection across the entire surface of the component – for reproducible results. LEO is suitable for both monolithic and sandwich structures. LEO is free of halogens and toxicologically safe. No special protective clothing is required for processing. In the event of a fire, no toxic substances are released and smoke generation is minimal (57 x less smoke generation than with PES GFRP).

  • SAERTEX LEO COATED FABRIC has the highest level of fire resistance integrated in the fabric. This reinforcement is equipped with an active fire retardant covering layer. This permits the material to be manufactured in a single production process using vacuum infusion. The fabric offers excellent tensile and bending properties, low material thickness high energy efficiency and up to 5x greater rigidity that is 40% lighter than aluminum. In case of fire, the protective layer starts to pyrolyse and forms a heat insulation layer that protects the laminate. LEO® COATED FABRIC is available in different weight classes based on glass and carbon fabrics. It complies with the strictest fire safety standards in shipbuilding applications: IMO FTP Code 2010 Part 2, 3, 5 and 10.

  • The patented adhesives in the SAERfix product groupbmake the positioning of multiaxial interlaid complexes of glass, carbon or aramid easier. Non-Crimp Fabrics finished with SAERfix EP and SAERfix UP are self-adhesive, which makes using additional spray adhesives a thing of the past when laying-up technical textiles in a mold. Using SAERfix reduces the time needed for lay-up – especially in vertical molds such as boat hulls – by up to 50%. Spraying with additional adhesive for positioning is no longer necessary, saving money. SAERfix is easy to handle and positioning the fabric is simple, even on highly curved surfaces. In situations where something doesn’t fit exactly, fabrics finished with SAERfix can simply be removed and then reapplied as needed. Even an automated lay-up process is straightforward using SAERfix. In contrast with other commonly used fabric adhesives, SAERfix EP has virtually no influence on the mechanical characteristics of the laminate. Thanks to its elasticizing effect, its fatigue resistance has even been improved in some cases. Unlike using individually applied adhesives, SAERfix ensures the reproducible and even distribution of the adhesive agent across the fabric. In terms of presenting a hazard to water, SAERfix is absolutely harmless. A well-known environmental analysis laboratory has classified SAERfix as being “not hazardous to waters”. Depending upon requirements, SAERfix is available on woven fabrics, non-woven fabrics and peel plies – or on separating paper for self-application. SAERfix can even be supplied in combination with SAERcore, our patented product range of sandwich complexes with freely selectable core and covering materials, for the series production of a wide variety of components.
